Unity Sound

‘Steve brought everyone together in a musical celebration of a day exploring the element of water. His relaxed and positive style allowed everyone to express themselves in their own way and introduced us to a new world of magical instruments – great fun!

Immersed in the Sounds of Nature

OEd Listening 1 web

Unity Music offer innovative opportunities for outdoor learning that are immersive experiences in the natural world. These sessions have been developed as the result of many years working not only in creative arts but as a full time, qualified outdoor educator for The Outward Bound Trust, Fife and Dundee City Councils outdoor education departments. Sessions and workshops have been used by Scottish Natural Heritage, SpeyGrian Educational Trust, Lochore Meadows Outdoor Education Centre and Craigencalt Ecology Centre. They involve being in the outdoors and experiencing the sounds of our surroundings, taking drumming into inspirational places, or making things to play.

Nature’s own music

The music we listen to and play in our world today was derived thousands of years ago from people being inspired by the sounds of animals and the elements around them and attempting to replicate these through rhythm and melody. It can be deeply moving in our modern world when we take the time to become aware of these sounds again, reminding us that even with technology, how closely linked we still are to our roots.
